Banana Milkshake (Healthy, Vegan, GF)

This milkshake recipe is so creamy and delicious that I forget I’m eating something made with healing ingredients (shh! you don’t have to tell the person you’re sharing this with if they’re the type who wrongly believes being healthy is missing out on taste… it can be our little secret!).

As with most of my recipes, it is indulgent and so I feel like I’m being naughty when in fact I’m not.  The typically unhealthy milkshakes I used to drink did taste great too, but they would make me feel bloated with a sugar high, followed by a low.  This recipe instead has the right balance of protein, carbohydrates and good fats for me and it is sweetened naturally, so I don’t get the rush and slump that I used to.   Almond butter and almond milk provides the protein and stabilizes my blood sugar; the gluten-free oats are amazing whole grains, and both this and the banana gives me the slow releasing energy.  Plus I get omega three and lots of antioxidants from the chia seeds and flaxseeds.  In regards to beauty from the inside out, the lettuce, seeds and almonds help promote good skin and the oats help to grow healthy hair.

This milkshake is so quick and easy to make that there is no excuse for me not to drink it.  I often sip it on the go when I’m running errands around Manhattan, and I’m in need of the energy.  Try it for yourself.  Or if someone you love enjoys a milkshake*, you can give them the other serving, perhaps in a fancy bottle as a homemade gift made with only loving ingredients.  Their body may thank you for it.

Wishing you all a fantastic day, from the Wellness Brit in Manhattan, Queen Dee x
